是的, 終於乖乖回來介紹齊柏林飛船. 齊柏林飛船是我第一名喜歡的團, 總覺得要專心好好介紹… 但是今天忙, 明天忙, 後天一定也會很忙. 八月中又要去出差三個禮拜, 再不抽時間出來寫, 恐怕會永遠停在第一張專輯… XD
79 年專輯 In Through the Out Door 中的 Fool in the Rain (雨中的傻瓜), 是 Led Zeppelin 解散前, 最後一首進榜的搖滾樂. 根據記載, 歌曲的誕生是來自於 Robert Plant 和 John Paul Jones, 1978 年前往阿根廷觀賞世界杯時, 看到森巴舞產生的靈感. 這也難怪整首歌充滿著歡樂的氣分.

1979 年, 是齊柏林飛船離地起飛後的第十一個年頭. 對 Led Zeppelin 來說, 這不是什麼順遂的一年. Robert Plant 剛失去了愛子, John Bonham 沉溺酒精中, Jimmy Page 也染上了海洛因毒癮. In Through the Out Door 專輯製作時, 往日四人齊心協力的榮景已不復見. 最常見的模式, 是由兩個生活比較正常的團員: Robert Plant 和 John Paul Jones, 先替歌曲建構出大綱, 然後另外兩個團員, 再各自加入自己的表演. 這些不順遂也反映在音樂上. 比起樂團早期的傳世巨作, In Through the Out Door 只能算是小品. 甚至有樂評攻擊: 吉他之神 Jimmy Page 的手指, 已經被海洛因影響到跟不上節拍.
其實, 換個角度想, 月無恆圓, High 了整整十一年, 總有歸覆平靜的一天. 專輯中我最喜歡的兩首歌: “Fool in the Rain” 與 “All my Love”, 都給我一種: 一群成熟老樂癡聚在一起, 快樂玩音樂的順暢感. 歌曲也許不再高亢激昂, 但還是音樂性十足, 聽了總能滿足耳朵細胞定期需要好音樂滋養的渴求. 舉例來說, Fool in the Rain <影片 3:40> 開始到<影片 4:00> 的鼓與吉他共鳴, 每次聽, 每次都讓我想跟著敲打. 還有 <影片 2:26> 用口哨做出的轉折點, 真是令人嘆為觀止. 好像這群老樂癡玩音樂, 已經到達獨孤求敗晚年, 萬物皆可為劍的境地.
另外, Fool in the Rain 是屬於弄懂歌詞, 聽歌樂趣會自動加倍的好作品. 從 “Now I will stand in the rain on the corner” 到口哨聲響起的這一段, 配上背景象徵雨點灑下的鋼琴+鼓聲, 活靈活現的點出主角等待中的焦慮. 這句 “An' I'll run in the rain till I'm breathless. When I'm breathless I'll run till I drop” 也是 Led 式幽默的好表現. 翻譯時, 我加入了許多個人意見. 字面上, 這首歌是在講一個站在錯誤街角, 淋雨等女朋友的白癡. 但我認為, 這個男人並沒待錯地方. “Fool” 應該是在描述他等待一個不可能發生機會的愚笨行徑. 我相信, 他自己也明白這個女人對他沒意思. 但是, 就是忍不住多等十分鐘, 希望能有奇蹟出現. ” 在錯誤的街角等妳” 的說法, 應該是主角對自己催眠, 原來他還沒對她死心…:p
OK. 希望這首比較有現代感的歌, 能抓回聽眾們對齊柏林飛船的興趣, 下一篇, 讓我們回到系列中斷的地方: 1969 年, Led Zeppelin II.
PS. 因為 John Paul Jones 不可能同時彈鋼琴 + 貝斯, 這首歌不存在現場版.
